In Lagos; CODSAiN Empowers Health Educators for Improved Family Planning

The Community-Oriented DMPA-SC Self-Injection Acceleration in Nigeria (#CODSAiN) project, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and implemented by Arfh Nigeria, held a 2-day training session in #lagos state. This project aims to promote DMPA-SC self-injection among women of reproductive age, especially in hard-to-reach communities, by enhancing the acceptance and availability of family planning services.

The training focuses on empowering Health Promotion/Health Education Officers with comprehensive demand-generation strategies. These strategies are designed to optimize the uptake of family planning services, particularly DMPA-SC self-injection, and integrate self-care practices within the broader contraceptive method mix.

In attendance are notable stakeholders such as the Supervising Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board Dr Abimbola Bowale, Representative of the Health Promotion Department Federal Ministry of Health Onyinye Ofoegbu Jonathan, the Director of Health Education at LSPHCB Mrs Hanfor, District Directors of Health Education, LSPHCB Reproductive Health Officer Representative, ARFH CEO Dr Kehinde Osinowo, Dr Uba Sabo the Program Manager CODSAiN project and Fashoto Opeyemi the State Adhoc staff.

Together, we are driving a collaborative Sector-Wide Approach (#SWAp) to enhance healthcare accessibility and improve reproductive health outcomes.
