Army Seeks Joint Action Over Cross-border Threat, Lauds NAWOJ School Outreach Initiatives
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Major General Bamidele Alabi has said the country is currently facing more of internal security challenge to cross- border threat, seeking Joint environment to tackle the menace.
According to the GOC " it is not the traditional kind of threat that we have in those days, just look at our borders, when another country invade us like we had with Nigeria and Cameroon, we flushed them out, the current security environment that we have now requires a comprehensive approach, every body has to be involved in addressing it".
"The army is basically doing everything possible to ensure the security of Nigeria in line with the constitutional responsibility and in a joint environment inline with the Chief of army staff , lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja' philosophy is transforming Nigeria Army to a well trained, equiped and highly motivated force towards achieving a constituency responsible in a joint environment".
The GOC added that joint environment enables all stakeholders in wherever they operate to work together , saying the Army through this, is being transformed to a better position to perform better.
The GOC noted this while receiving executives of the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) at the Headquarters 2 Division Conference Hall, Ibadan.
The GOC reiterated the important roles Journalists play in projecting army across the board, saying the Army cherish the relationship it's enjoys with the body as a whole.
The GOC launded the women journalists Oyo wing, over the school outreach initiatives , which aimed at sensitizing the school children within the barrack on the important things they need to know about themselves.
Earlier in her address, the chairperson of Oyo Nawoj ,Com. Jadesola Ajibola said the purpose of the visit was to familiarize the association with the 2division for a continuous robust partnership.
Com Ajibola commended the GOC for the efforts made by the Nigerian Army especially the 2division for the just concluded election in Kogi state, saying the association is proud of the Army
