UCH CMD Declares 2023 World Patient Safety Day Open
The Hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo has declared open a week-long session of activities planned to commemorate 2023 World Patient Safety Day.
Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo ably represented Prof. Abiola Okunlola a Consultant Gynecologist said the lined up activities were designed to raise global awareness of the need for active engagement of patients and their families and caregivers in all settings and at all levels of health care; to improve patient safety.
The Hospital CMD stated that the activities would also engage policy-makers, healthcare leaders, health and care workers, patients’ organizations, civil society, and other stakeholders in efforts to engage patients and families in the policies and practices for safe health care.
He further stated that the program would enable patients and families to be actively involved in their health care and the improvement of the safety of health care, advocate urgent action on patient and family engagement, aligned with the Global Patient Safety Action Plan.
The Chairman planning committee and the Head of the Special Duties Unit, Dr. Salam Tawakalit Olubukola noted that this year’s Patient Safety Day awareness campaign features health talks and panel discussions aiming at empowering patients to know that they are stakeholders in their management and to let the caregivers know that communication and safety of patient is very key to their management.
