UCH Celebrates 2023 World Hospice and Palliative Care Day

In celebration of the 2023 World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, The Department of Hospice and Palliative Care University College Hospital, Ibadan in collaboration with Centre for Palliative Care in Nigeria(CPCN) today paid a courtesy visit to the management of the Hospital.

Welcoming the management of the Hospital to the event, the Chairman of the event, Prof. Adeniyi A. Adenipekun, consultant radiation oncology, lauded the management under the leadership of Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo for its consistent assistance in the area of palliative care.

 The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo while receiving the team on the Hospital foyer, talked on the need for the Hospital to organize a wide grand round for adequate dissemination of information on palliative care with emphasis on how patients can benefit from it.

The UCH CMD however

declared the celebration open and wished the department a successful outing.

The Head of the Department, Dr. Oloyede while speaking on the 2023 World Hospice and Palliative Care Day with the theme: Compassionate Communities: Together for Palliative Care noted that palliative care is a distinct aspect of medicine which does not only care for the patients alone but also the care giver.
