Oyo NUJ Press Week Kicks Off in Style
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State chapter on Sunday kicked start the beginning of 2023 NUJ Press Week with a church service held at the Christ Apostolic Church, Eagle's Wing, Wakajaiye, Ibadan.
Speaking at the service, Chairman of the state council of NUJ, Comrade Demola Babalola, appreciated God for his grace bestowed on the association, over the year.
Babalola, who noted some challenges members encounter in the field journalism, added that with God's help, journalists in the state would continue to discharge their legitimate duties without fear or favour.
In a message titled: “Speaking the Truth”, the presiding minister, Pastor J Akinade, urged all seated at the event to speak the truth in their dealings.
He stressed that everybody in the society, including government and the masses, relies on journalists to be informed, saying a nation that is not informed is deformed.
He equally charged members of the union to be fair to the church leadership by seeking to know the truth before reporting negative stories.
Akinade said, “I want to charge you Journalists to be truthful, and be fair to Christian leaders, before you report negative stories about them. May God grant you wisdom from above that will make you rise above tribulations and storms of life”.
He prayed for wisdom and guidance that will make them access helpers that will impact their business and life.
