Society For Family Health Kicks Off Anti-Malaria Campaign in Kwara
As part of its commitment to improve healthcare in Nigeria, the Society for Family Health, Nigeria kicks off the integration of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) and Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs) campaigns.
SFH's Dr Ernest Nwokolo and Mr John Ocholi, led malaria partners to an entry meeting with the Hon. Commissioner of Health, Kwara State Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, the permanent secretary Dr Abubakar Ayinla and other directors to discuss the planned integration of SMC and ITNs campaigns into our healthcare strategy.
The meeting emphasises the importance of involving communities in malaria prevention efforts to create lasting change".
Mr John Ocholi in his speech, mentioned that the Kwara State government's commitment to end malaria, opening doors to more resources and support is well recommended. The meeting was an opportunity for malaria partners to share insights, ideas, and concerns on the planned integration SMC/ITNs campaign in Kwara State.
The Hon. Commissioner of Health welcomed all malaria partners to Kwara State and promised the partners of Government support to the integrated SMC/ITNs campaign in Kwara State noting that health is a top priority for the current administration. She also requested that the partners ensure all households are reached with ITNs and eligible children are administered Sulfadoxine/Pyrimethamine and Amodiaquine (SPAQ).
Society for Family Health is committed to an integrated SMC/ITNs campaign which is one of its first in Nigeria. The integration of SMC and ITN campaigns will provide a multi-pronged approach to combat this deadly disease, ensuring a safer environment for our families. By combining efforts, we can maximise the impact of our initiatives. This synergy will allow us to reach more households, distribute more nets, and administer SMC treatments efficiently.
Kwara State integrated SMC/ITNs campaign is scheduled to run from 24th September 2023 to 15th November 2023, as stated on SFH Facebook page.
