Police Arrest Fake AIG in Oyo, 32 Others
The Nigeria Police Force , Oyo State Command has arrested a 60yr- old man for impersonating an Assistant Inspector General ( AIG) and a serving Commissioner of Police ( CP) in the state.
The alleged serial police impersonator identified as Adeyemi Isaac , upon interrogation, confessed to have been using the fake identity for over a decade, to extort money from members of the public, who sought his assistance on police related matters, and to command many undue advantages from junior and senior police officers.
The state Police Public Relations officer Adewale Osifeso while parading the suspect in Ibadan on Friday said the impersonator was arrested sequel to series of complaints from members of public about the using fake identities to illegally extort huge amounts of money from them.
According to the police spoke person," the Monitoring Unit of the Command embarked on a discreet human intelligence gathering before arresting him at his hideout in Oyo town".
"Upon his arrest, so many of his victims have identified him while recounting experiences of how they parted with huge sums of money to the suspect under the guise of actually dealing a real Commissioner of Police or an Assistant Inspector General of Police."
Osifeso however noted that further development would be communicated later as investigation is still in progress.
Also, the command arrested other 32 suspects allegedly accused of illegal deeds ranging from stealing, robbery,, recovered exhibits which include 7cars, 6guns, 4 live cartridges, 1 empty cartridge, 1 extended cartridge, 4 cell phones, 5 motorcycles, 1 trailer with Reg, no KTU384, 20 live cows , 14 live sheep, 5000 packs of liquor, some criminal charms.
