Day JDPC gathered Stakeholders to brainstorm on ways to end Child Trafficking.
On the need to take urgent actions against Child trafficking, Labour, and Violence, The Justice Development and Peace Commission( JDPC) in close collaboration with the Network for the Defence of Child's Rights recently organised a round table talk for stakeholders, to synergize on ways to end the meanance in the community.
The 2019 stakeholders conference held at Ibadan, was organised to commemorate the World Day Against Child Labour and Trafficking in Person, and attracted the attendance of Security Agencies, Non Governmental Organisations ( NGO), Religious leaders, traditional rulers, Heads of markets and community groups.
The stakeholders in a general voice maintained that it is a necessity to facilitate the enforcement of the Oyo state child’s right law 2006 by reducing the case of child right violation in our immediate environment to the barest minimum and engaging in the sensitization and education of children against trafficking, violence, child abuse and other human vices that can lead children to ruin while growing up.
On the conference theme tagged "Children shouldn't work in fields but on Dreams" Oyo Head of Service, Alh. Amidat Agboola, said the Government will bring into book anyone found disobeying the child's right.
Ably represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Woman affairs, Mrs. E.A Abioye, Agboola enjoinied parents, Guardians and teachers to show much love to the children, and stop addressing them with hate speeches .
Director of JDPC, Rev. Father Exekiel Owoeye, in his welcome address said the war against child abuse and trafficking was a fight for all to secure a favourable future for the children.
Founder of Live Abundantly Initiative Dr. Ama Onyenrima urged parents to make the care of their children and wards paramount in their heart, awaking them on the ills of child labour and trafficking in the society.
Coordinator of the program who doubles as the Head of Programme, Women and Child’s Rights Programme, Mrs. Omotayo Adebayo advised that everybody should see themselves as a stakeholder in the cause of fighting the illicit act.
