I will break toes if they stand on my way to success- Makinde warns
New Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde on Thursday warned that his administration would not mind stepping on toes of those who he tagged as the enemies of progress of the state.
The Governor who disclosed this while delivering his speech at the inter-religious service to usher in the new administration in the state, held at the Governor’s Office Car Park, Secretariat, Ibadan maintained that the peace and prosperity of the state was not negotiable.
Mr Makinde while speaking on the issue minimum wage said "We will get our own minimum that will be over and above the federal minimum wage. Our own minimum wage will be linked to how how productive we are in our state. We will expand our expand our economy and the benefits will be for all.
“We are aware of the pressure on you by the past administration, especially at the last minute to circumvent the law and bend rules, but we have come with with an open mind; nobody is going to be witch-hunted. We are not here to say or spend our energy on going back to look at what has been done.
Earlier in her address of welcome, the state’s Head of Service (HoS), Mrs Amidat Agboola advised the new administration to invest in creating an enabling and workable environment for the civil servants in the state.
“I am also convinced that motivation may not necessarily means financial reward because there limits to the extent to which financial payments to talented people will induce them to work better or harder, stressing that non-financial rewards such as recognition, commendation and accelerated promotion can function better and the impact will last longer.”
