Oluyole club lagos celebrates 50th anniversary in grand style
Oluyole Club, on the occasion of its 50th Anniversary ceremony held at Kankanfo Inn, Ibadan, registered the attendance of dignarities , the likes of former Head of Service of the Federation, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi, First Female President of Nigeria Bar Association, Chief Mrs Pricilia Kuje, Immediate Past President, chief Wole Akinwande, Chief Bode Alamu, Former Commissioner of Information, Alh Gboyega Arulogun, Ambassador Olu Saanu among others.
High chief Omowale Kuye(deceased ), represented by wife, Chief Mrs Pricilia Kuje, Chief Kola Diasi, represented by the institution Bursar, Mr Yinka Babatunde and Doc Olalekan Are, represented by his Son, received a meritorious service awards as well as the past presidents of the club.
Oluyole Club, lagos gave a bursary award of 750,000 to 10 selected students, who are indigenes of Ibadan, Oyo state.
Also, as part of the activities making the golden anniversary of the club, a lecture titled ‘Oluyole Club, 50 years after: Looking back to the future “was delivered by Prof. Olukunle Iyanda FNIM, Current President and Chairman, Council of the Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered.
The lecturer in his speech stressed that CCII should play a more prominent role in the effort to get the various government (Local, state, and federal) to adopt, develop, and execute projects and policies that ameliorate the formidable challenges of Ibadan city.
Prof Iyanda said, in order for to empower the CCII to perform the role effectively, the club might need to be restructured, operating more realistically as a confederate organizations, adding that the club should therefore transform itself into a think tank, a catalyst or lobby group for Ibadanland. “ In the neareast future, one looks forward to seeing the emergence of well-planned and maintained Government Reservation Areas (GRA), well –developed modern industrial estate located all over the city and its suburbs.
Earlier in the Chairman’s opening Remarks, Prof. Adeniyi Osuntogun,said over the years, the club has rendered valuable services in different areas, part of which advisory services beign rendered to the government and promotion of health and socio-economic development of Ibadan in particular and Oyo state in general.
Also, in his welcome address, President –General,CCII, Chief Yemi Soladoye who disclosed that come December 16th, the club would give an award of honour to Governor Abiola Ajimobi on his 69 birthday, advised Ibadan Indigenes to shy away from condemning one another in stron terms.
President, Oluyole club Lagos, Chief Oladele Adegboyega,, in his welcome address said the annual lecture and the bursary awards are important features of the club’s annual celebration, adding that the club has made and continue to make consistent efforts in promoting social, economic and intellectual development of Ibadan.
Adegboyega while speaking on the journey of the club so far, said the past 50years have not been all rosy, but the club has achieved considerable success, and in appereciation of this, founding members , those living and dead, as well as prominent elders are being honoured on the occasion of the club 50th anniversary celebration..
Oluyole Club, Lagos was established in March 1968 as a cultural, nongovernmental, non political association of indigeneous sons and daughter of Ibadan who live in Lagos.
