The exercise is not peculiar to Ayefele's Radio station- Oyo Govt

The Oyo State Government on Monday said that due process was followed in the demolition of the Music House on Sunday.

The government stated that the decision to pull down part of the radio station was as a result of Ayefele's negligence to regularise the structural planning document for the building.

Special Adviser to Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Physical Planning and Development Control, Waheed Gbadamosi, during a press conference in Ibadan on Monday disclosed that the exercise is not peculiar to Fresh Fm, as all the radio stations in Oyo state were equally requested to submit the approval of their station building.

Gbadamosi explained that "The Bureau of planning and Development control formally requested for the planning approval of the radio station on the 14th of June 2017".

"A reminder letter dated 18th August 2017 was sent to the radio station, and was expected to forward the approved building plan to the Bureau within 7days".

" Meanwhile, I response to our request letter for the approved building plan of the radio station, a copy of an approval was submitted, however the said submitted approval is not in tandem with tge existing radio house, Thus the submitted approval deviated significantly from what is on group".

"A physical site was carried out on the 25th of June, 2018, to ascertain the extent of the deviation from the approval where it was discovered that apart from the change in use of building, spatial standard in terms of setback, airspace and parking spaces were found to be grossly inadequate".

" In view of the above, a letter was sent to the Radio house on the 29th  of June 2018 to submit a fresh building plan application that qill reflect the existing structures on site".

"The Radio house deliberately ignored the letter as there was no response from their end till date, the deviate posture of the radio house on the 29th of June, 2018, prompted the Bureau to serve a three day Demolition Notice on the 13th August 2018 which is expected to expire on the 15th of August, 2018".

Gbadamosi warned that the reconstruction of the demolished part of the building would not be allowed unless the government’s directive was carried out by Ayefele.
