JDPC collaborates ADR, launches Community dispute Scheme


The  Justice, Development and Peace Commission, Ibadan Chapter(JDPC) in a close collaboration with the Arbitration & Dispute Resolution Society of Nigeria (ADR) recently instituted a community dispute resolution  Schemes across all local communities in Oyo State.

The Community Dispute Resolution  Scheme(CDRS) was launched to break the barriers in access to justice and to enlighten local businesses owners and private individuals on quickly tips to resolve commercial, environmental, family inheritance or property disputes out of the court.

Chairman, ADR Society, Chief Kole Ojo who made it known on Friday in Ibadan, added that disputes could be settled out of court by using legally enforceable and modern alternative dispute resolution methods.

He stated that " These low costs private dispute management initiative operated through Community Dispute Resolution Centers(CDRC) are administered by professionally trained ADR staffs and Volunteers drawn from all disciplinary backgrounds including lawyers, construction experts, arbitrators".

Chief Ojo said the Community Dispute Resolution Initiative(CDRI)   would soon be formally launched  across all local communities in Oyo State.

He explained that "CDRI is designed to interlink with the public dispute resolution agencies already in operation in Oyo State such as the MultiDoor Court and the Mediation Center".

"CDRI also provides opportunity for practitioners of Dispute Resolution to showcase their skills in the Community by joining the CDRI panel of Dispute Resolution Expert. Application forms are now available for those who need to join the panel.
