Anglican diocese calls for National rebirth

Diocese of Ibadan North, Anglican Communion stated that Nigerians are yet to feel the impact of the exit of economic recession as many people are still wallowing in abject poverty.

The Diocesan Bishop, Most Revd. Segun Okubadejo who said this stressed that is imperative for the Federal government to take wholistic approach towards growing the economy in order to improve the living condition of the masses.

While speaking during the Bishop's charge delivered to the second session of the Seventh Synod at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Yemetu Ibadan on Monday, Okubadejo added "Nigeria is a blessed country but corruption has remained a national monsters ravaging in our nation at all levels and in all departments of public service in private lives, in business and in religious institutions".
"As we pray and look unto God for a national rebirth, we must all realize that corruption in low and high places is the one monster we must fight".

Okubadejo maintained that the Federal government should  formulate economic and fiscal polices aimed at diversifying the economy as black gold can no longer sustain the nation especially at this stage of National development.

The Diocesan Bishop, speaking on the level of  insecurity and wanton killing in the country lamented that  the excesses of the territorist groups have resulted in the loss of lives of innocent people and that help should be sought from countries with capacity to deal with the situation, if the government is truly incapacitated.
