International Federation on Electoral System pledges support for OYSIEC
International Federation on Electoral System (IFES) has promised to support Oyo State in all aspect of election.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Mr Obaje Ukeh said the organization which is funded by USAID is ready to partner with Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission ( OYSIEC) to ensure effective operation during the election .
The Ukeh noted this during the commencement of A- 3 day Election Administration Orientation Programme organised by the International Federation on Electoral System (IFES) for Chairman, Commissioners and Senior Staff of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) on Monday at Owu Crown Hotel Ibadan.
The specialist at the opening ceremony, stressed that the major objective of the training was to build a capacity for the Commissioners, Management and Senior Staff members of OYSIEC to be able to carry out their mandate.
"The importance of the training is to trigger key stakeholders including those in charge of policy making for proper arrangement and planning of free credible and fair election",
The organization which is funded by USAID is ready to give technical assistant to OYSIEC in all areas for effective operation during the election .
On his part, OYSIEC Chairman, Mr Jide Ajeigbe disclosed that the International Organizations is conscious of the fact that Democracy in the 21st century is the only acceptable and recognized method of governance in the whole world.
According to him " The International Organizations is conscious of this phenomenon, hence their efforts at ensuring that elections are conducted under a free, fair and conducive environment that will be acceptable to all and sundry".
"It is therefore imperative to admonish all participants to give maximum attention to the training so as to be kept abreast of the modern trend organizing , planning and conducting a free, fair and credible elections .
Ajeigbe stressed that the training is part of preparation for the coming local Government Elections in the Pace Setter state in Nigeria.
