Custom recovers 92m worths of goods in Oyo
The Oyo state command of the Nigeria Immigration Service says the Federal government efforts in transforming the agricultural sector, especially in the area of rice production should be encouraged while its importation should be discouraged.
The NIS Comptroller of the Oyo/ Osun states command, Mr Odibu Christopher stated this in Ibadan while unvealing seizures made by the command with the total DPV amounting to 92.8millon.
Odibu noted that seizures which includes, DPV of (9) Trucks and two used cars, 4,000( 50kg) bags of foreign parboiled rice, 150 pieces of Used tyres, 51 Bales of secondhand clothes and 50( 25 liter kegs) of vegetable oil, were made at different locations in Oyo state.
Odibu who further stressed that the seizures were made within the command's area of coverage especially along Opara bodo of Iwajowa Local government Area of Oyo state added that one suspect was arrested alongside with the sized goods.
He however sounded a note of warning and advise all unpatriotic Nigerians who engage in smuggling of used cars, foreign rice and other contraband goods to desist from it and look for other legitimate means of businesses.
