Oyo govt declares zero tolerance for potholes


As parts of its efforts to make life better for road users, the Oyo state government yesterday declared zero tolerance for potholes across the roads in the state.

The state government through its Special Adviser on infrastructure Mr. Gbenga Akintola said "we are responsible for all the repairing of the trunk B roads in the state, as we all known that the federal roads are maintains by FERMA and so also we are shaddle with the responsibilities of maintainning state roads and that is what we currently doing".

Speaking during a press briefing at the state Secretariat in Ibadan, Akintola bustressed that the infrastructural department was carved out to be one arms of the ministry of Works to see to the urgent needs in fixing  some bad portion of the states roads.

His words " We are currently fixing some roads now, and I want the members of the public to please bear it in mind that our men are on the road day and night with reflective safety jackets, and with some caution signs to notify the road users that we are working on some portions of the road

I am also using this opportunity to appeal to the masses for any incovenience this may bring to the road users, I am sure with few weeks all the stress will be over and you will all continue to enjoy the road after it has been well repair.

Commissioner of information, tourism and culture Mr. Toye Arulogun in his own address  stated that the present administration under the leadership of Governor Abiola Ajimobi believes in infrastructural development adding that it is one of the critical achievement to point at.


He however assured that the present administration will give its best to make the state free of potholes.
