The future of Africa women is bright when they rise up to responsibilities - Former V.P ZImbabwe
Mujuru who was the special guest at the 6th Oyo State Officials' Wives Association(OYSOWA)3-day National summit, held at the International Conference centre, University of Ibadan, enjoined African women to participate in the transformation change of Africa.
Speaking on the theme: The Resilient woman : making a Difference, Mujuru urged
women to take leadership position in capability and not through favour.
She encouraged women to take possibility on issues affecting them and children.
Mrs Florence Ajimobi who is the convener Mrs Florence Ajimobi, described resilience as the greatest strength of a successful woman, saying it is the ability to return to the original form after being compressed.
" There is no successful woman today who doesn't have a story or two to tell, our theme this year is therefore very apt and instructive as we will hear touching stories of resilience and the power of not losing focus even in the face of harsh and grave realities as well as how we can continue to make a difference in all our spheres of endeavor" she added.
Florence noted that theme of the conference was coined out of the appraisal of the life of the average woman and how she is was able to survive against all odds.
She urged the women to make a difference in her society and the world at large after recovering from the setbacks and vicissitudes that life may throw across her path.
According to her " This setbacks could be financial, physicsl , emotional or even psychological, it is not these setbacks that matters but how we are able to deal with them".
She said OYSOWA was launched in 2012 by the wife of the Oyo state governor to support government in its 3- point agenda of restoration, transformation, and repositioning the state.
In their separate remarks, Governor of Lagos, Akinwunmi Ambode, Bayelsa state governor, Seraike Dickson and governor Rauf Aregbesola butressed the need for people in position of authorities to support women
They noted that women must be well taken care of and to be neglected in the nation affairs.
Dignitaries present on the occasion include senior special assistant to the president on Diaspora, Hon. Abike Dabiri- Erewa,wife of the minister of solid mineral,Mrs Bisi Fayemi and 15 governor's wives across the federation.
