Chief Justice of Oyo State, Hon, M.L Abimbola has granted the release of 84 inmates to prevent prison decongestion.
Abimbola who made the release yesterday at agodi prison in Ibadan said the visit was important not essentially to decongest prison but to ensure inmates are given speedy trial.
The consideration according to the Abimbola is that 67 of the inmates circumstances deserve sympathetic consideration, 10 affected with untreatable disease and 7 inmates which arrest are not legally done.
Oyo CJ added that"the power to decongest is not our will and caprices, any inmate who has served longer than possible prison terms or those whose circumstances are to be free.
"Some of the inmates have been added over to Non Governmental Organizations to be well taken care of, I urge them to compile with the rules and regulations that would be given to them".
Abimbola disclosed that the exercise which is statical is expected to be in frequent to get trial inmates and prevent prison from being decongested .
Advising the 84 released inmates, Abimbola urged them to do away with all criminal acts and be of good behavior.
" I don't pray to see this faces again when we come back to this place, I want you all to change for better and be good citizens ".
He added that the festive period being a time of forgiveness has granted the inmates the freedom they have always dreamt of.
