Port Health Officials Sensitize Federal Staffs over Ebola Outbreak
The Port Health service ibadan, a division in the Public Health Department of Federal Ministry of Health sensitized staffs over Ebola outbreak and its preventive measures.
The program tagged" Sensitization of Ebola Outbreak:Safeguarding Our Health" held yesterday at the federal sectariat, ibadan
Mr Eze Nwachuku, Assistant Director of the ministry said the mission of the forum was to work tirelessly and uninhibited to prevent the importation and exportation of communicable diseases across the nation's borders.
He added that the ministry was working pro actively to stop the spread of the virus and also to maintain virus free settlers in Oyo State
Alaja Kafayat Adebayo a scientific officer described Ebola Virus Desease(EVD) as a severe,often fatal disease that affects humans and non-humans primates who have come in contact with the virus.
She disclosed that the infection can be succesfully prevented by avoiding contact with infected individuals or by using proper personal protective equipment(PPE)when contact is justified.
Adebayo added that practizing good personal hygiene by washing hands frequently was theccheapest and the simplest way to prevent Ebola virus
