Foundation Preaches Peace, Empathy

 

The founder of Shokesta Development Initiative Rotarian Soyebi Oluwakemi Abiodun has said it was time for Nigerians to embrace peace and show kindness to all.

Rotarian Abiodun stressed that peace cannot be achieved through political or economic change; rather, through change in human nature.

Skokesta Woman, on the occasion of International Day of Peace 2023, celebrated recently, stated further that it was a day to inspire everyone to work together to build peace.

" Here is everything we aspire to know about this day. Yes, I am talking about the International Day of Peace theme 2023, where we all can tell each other how we can create peace together. How can we maintain peace? There is a purpose behind celebrating International Peace Day, where suspicion and hatred will be overcome by compassion and empathy. 

Speaking on the theme of the International Peace Day “Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the Global Goals”, Abiodun said "

On this special day, let people from all over the world come together and celebrate non-violence and a ceasefire. Today, this day reminds all people to maintain peace according to the International Day of Peace 2023 theme.

"If you are willing to establish peace with your enemy, then you should work together with them. Because of this, your enemy very soon becomes your ally. Under the International Day of Peace Speech, we get that unless we make peace with ourselves, we do not get peace in the outside world. If mankind wishes to achieve such a long and indefinite period of material prosperity, they must establish peaceful and cooperative behavior among themselves. 

"Under the International Day of Peace theme 2023, conscience is the highest in the court of justice, where all the courts take the place of justice. Just as darkness cannot be removed, only light can do so; similarly, hatred cannot be removed by hatred; it can only be removed by love."

The International Day of Peace is for 'commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace within and among all nations and peoples'. Put simply, it aims to build a more peaceful world for everyone who lives in it. Peace affects almost every aspect of our lives, so let's embrace peace and not war.
